I have been exhibiting and selling my paintings at one-person and group exhibitions for almost 20 years. My process starts with a theme that inspires me. I research the concept through a series of paintings, using either soft pastel or acrylic paint as my primary medium. As my life experience brings on new perceptions, I will often revisit a theme and add the new pieces to the collection. My work has focused on these main themes: Beyond the Edge (B&W landscape photograph, pastel, ink and gouache on paper) which considers the lines between fantasy and reality; Body Landscape (pastel, ink on paper) which explores the figure in the landscape; The Red Chair (pastel on paper) which is a seductive study of a Victorian fainting couch that found it's way into my world; Cleansing (acrylic on canvas) which deals with seeking relief from daily stresses and negativity; and RantAge (acrylic, pumice and gel mediums on canvas) which is my response to the chaotic state of the world. Over the last few years I was introduced to the literature of hard science fiction — scientists writing about the future. It has given me a new perspective of the earth and life: from the point of view of the universe. This new Celestial perspective has awakened great excitement and energies in me. It has opened my mind to fantastic possibilities for our future. I am painting my experience dealing with these fantastic possibilities. | |
